Station of the Year
This is the main award in the competition. Entries were required to submit a maximum 15-minute stand-alone documentary style recording featuring extracts from their station output during 2004, giving the judges an insight into the station, the hospitals they broadcast to, style of presentation and programme content.

Best Specialised Music
Entries were required to be 5-minute duration showing the judges the presenter's knowledge of the music in question. E.g. an event guide/what's on feature relating to the show. These programmes could include jazz, classical, country, religious etc.

Best Sports Output
Entries were required to submit a 10-minute compilation for this award, which includes both studio sports output along with material broadcast from sporting events i.e. football or rugby commentaries. The judges will be looking for the presenter's knowledge of sport and also the diversity of the sports coverage of the station.
