Joining Rookwood Sound couldn't be easier!

To broadcast 24 hours a day, 7 days we need an army of volunteers!   Roles include Engineers, Presenters, Fund-raisers and Researchers.

Do you have a few hours free time each week to spare?

Would you like to gain experience in Hospital Radio?

Would you like to be part of a friendly group of people?

If you answer YES to the above - we want YOU! Keep reading!

At Rookwood Sound Hospital Broadcasting we are always looking for new members, we would love to hear from you. There are many things for you to get involved with including presenting Radio Programmes, engineering aspects of the station, fundraising, publicity and much more.

If you are interested, you will be pleased to hear that joining couldn't be simpler. When you contact us you will be invited to an introduction night. As the name suggests this is an evening where you come down to our studio complex at Rookwood Hospital, one of our more experienced members will give you a tour and tell you all about the station and the service we supply to Rookwood and Llandough Hospitals. You will soon find out that the most important people to us are our listeners.

Therefore one thing you will have to do on regular basis is visiting the wards to go request collecting. To help you do this you will receive some basic training on a role-play basis, which will, hopefully, cover all possible scenarios. There will be training sessions covering Presentation, reading on radio and programme planning to name just a few. As soon as you have these done, you will be invited to join the team on your night.  Every single person that has joined the service over the years we have been broadcasting has had to do this. Even I managed it, and if I can do it, you can too! I promise that you won't be disappointed.  Joining was the best thing that I have done for a long time. It can be hard work, but It's great fun and an excellent opportunity to make new friends.

If you are interested please Click here to fill out our online application form or you can download our application form by clicking here (then Right Click and select Save Target As unless you have a high-speed connection which will open the form)- fill it out and return to the address at the bottom of the form.  We look forward to hearing from and working with you.

We should stress that, although Rookwood Sound Hospital Broadcasting is a voluntary service, every member does have to pay a yearly membership fee. Currently this stands at £50.00 with discounted rates for students, UB40 and OAPs. Subscriptions can be paid annually or quarterly by standing order. If you are a tax payer you will be asked to consider gift aid for your subscriptions allowing us to collect monies from the Inland Revenue.

I look forward to receiving your application and also to meeting you very soon!
