In
March 2004, the Annual General Meeting took place with celebrations for
our new trainee members who have completed training.
Steve
Allen Chief Executive said “We reviewed our training methods we
don’t just let members join and next minute they are allowed to
broadcast this does not make good radio and I am sure the patients should
expect the best when in hospital, we are confident this method of training
is the best available to hospital radio volunteers and we pride ourselves
on the quality of the members joining Rookwood.” You can see the
trainees and their certificates at the bottom of this page.
At
the event, Tim Evans was awarded the Jeff Lyons Award for
outstanding achievements throughout the year. This award is presented in
memory of Jeff Lyons Station Engineer and one of the founder members of
Rookwood Sound.
Tim
Evans said “It's a great honour to receive this award and I feel
proud that I was considered; When I joined the station I was not
interested in broadcasting however I underwent the training programme and
here I am now presenting my own programme on a Sunday afternoon and
recently was elected to the role of Programme Controller for the
station”.
Also
the annual general report was published and for the first time the report
an edited version of the report is available
online at the new AGM page.
